Awabakal’s Medical Service is an Aboriginal community controlled health service, which aims to deliver culturally appropriate primary health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to Aboriginal people and their families residing in our service delivery area.
Aged Care Services
Awabakal Aged Care Services is a comprehensive program that offers quality services to our community.
Awabakal Aged Care Services staff will work with you to develop what is known as ‘My Story’. This will include asking questions about your family, your history and your health.
This is where you are able to discuss what is important to you, any worries you have about your health, what you might need to help improve your day to day life and what kind of support you need.
Based on your story, Awabakal will help with building a ‘plan’ for you. This plan will be tailored to your individual needs and will incorporate the services you will require.
Preschool
Awabakal Preschool strives to provide a culturally appropriate and supportive learning environment where children have the opportunity to explore and experience new things.
Preschool is a fun place to be for children and our dedicated staff ensure relationships are established with all children and families from the start. We believe that genuine, caring relationships are the key to nurturing young children’s positive self-esteem and identity.
Playgroup
Playgroup is a great place to meet new people and spend some quality time with your children as they participate in stimulating activities alongside other children.
Awabakal operates several supported playgroups for children aged 0 – 6 years and their parents/carers across various locations in Newcastle, the Hunter and Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens.
